What to expect from your Laser hair removal treatment
Prep for treatment: Avoid any sun exposure or tanning for about a week. No waxing, plucking and bleaching the hair as the laser will not be to catch the hair, we need an intact follicle for the laser to destroy. Make sure that you have between 4-6 weeks full hair growth before your first session, you need to shave atleast 1-2 days before your treatment. For the first treatment you can come in without shaving so that we can see the type and texture of the hair.
How does work: The laser emits high intensity light. The light gets absorbed by the pigment in the hair, when the light gets into the skin it turns into heat, the heat then “damages’’ the hair follicle which in turn delays or inhibit the growth of the hair.
What to expect: The sensations of the laser varies from person to person and the treatment area. While some experience a slight sting, some people don’t even feel the laser unless they hear its beeping sound.
Different factors affect how the laser would feel on the sensitive skin. Such as hair colour, density, skin type and pain threshold. But you can make sure that the feeling of laser decreases after each treatment as the hair follicles get finer and lighter, and your body is getting used to the feeling over time.
Aftercare: After your session, you might experience some redness and sensitivity caused by heat that’s trapped by the skin, for comfort purposes, you can put an icepack covered with a clean cloth on your skin. It should go away within 24 hours to a few days
Avoid sun exposure for about a week. Avoid hot showers, baths and saunas.
It usually takes 5-6 weeks for the hair follicles to get back to the appropriate stage for your next laser treatment. Tell your clinician with any holidays you are planning to attend, any sun exposure you had or may have, and your period where it is relevant. Radio-Frequency Microneedling
How it works
It is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate the skin.
It is a form of controlled skin injury. The micro injuries stimulates the growth of healthy new skin, which can benefit common skin issues like acne scars, wrinkles and skin laxity.
Radio-Frequency needling is excellent for skin laxity, jawline contouring, double chin, neck tightening and overall skin tightening.
Compared with treatments like chemical peels and dermabrasion, radiofrequency microneedling is minimally invasive.
What to Expect during the treatment
- Your therapist will apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area before starting the procedure. The anesthetic numbs the area so you won’t feel pain.
- The microneedling device makes tiny wounds in the skin. Simultaneously, the tip of the needle releases radiofrequency waves into the wounds.
- The procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes. The exact duration depends on what you’re treating. The numbing part takes the longest. We normally numb for 40min before treatment and do LED Phototherapy to enhance healing of the skin
- Your therapist will apply a serum solution to support cell regeneration and finish with a soothing solution to minimize any discomfort.
Aftercare
- Apply ice packs to reduce swelling and discomfort.
- Wear SPF for several weeks after your treatment. Your skin will be extra sensitive to the sun during this time.
- Use a gentle cleanser after your treatment.
- Avoid wearing makeup until the next day. After 24 hours, you can return to your normal makeup and skin care routine.
- Don’t use any actives, oils or exfoliating products till after the skin is healed. Use your SOS Mist every couple of hours to sooth the skin
Some clients experience mild swelling and redness in the area for about 2 days. Some puncture marks can also be visible a couple of days afterwards.
