High Intensity Focused Ultrasound [HIFU] is a non-invasive treatment for tightened, youthful and glowing skin. This treatment can target various depths of the body’s tissue for skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring. It is sometimes called the ‘Lunch Time Facelift’ as the treatment is quick, very tolerable and has no downtime.
So how does HIFU work?
HIFU uses focused ultrasound pulses that penetrate and heat up the deeper layers of the skin. Once the targeted area reaches a certain temperature it creates controlled damage and causes collagen fibres to bundle together and a cascade reaction to create new collagen fibres. As collagen is the scaffolding of your skin increased collagen production gives a firmer, more tightened effect on the skin. There is some immediate tightening effect, but the main results take 3 months to show.
What areas can HIFU treat?
- Wrinkle reduction
- Enhancing your jawline definition and V shape
- Double chin reduction
- Lifting of cheeks, eyebrows and eyelids
- Tightening sagging skin on the neck
- Nasolabial fold reduction
- Tightening of skin on the décolletage
- Improves overall skin tone, pores, brightness and elasticity
What does HIFU feel like?
The treatment time depends on the area being worked on, anything from 30 to 90minutes
The skin is cleaned and the HIFU device gets passed over area by area. The feeling is of pins and needles, where as some areas may feel a dull numb pain sensation. Treatment is not to uncomfortable and well tolerated, if to sensitive a numbing cream or pain killer can be taken.
Afterwards the area will feel warm and slight swelling may occur.
